Achim Kaufhold, Chief Medical Officer (CMO), is a German citizen. He holds a medical degree from the University of Cologne, Germany. During his 10-year academic career he worked in the fields of pediatrics, basic and applied medical
microbiology, laboratory medicine and infectious diseases in Germany and the U.S. Dr. Achim Kaufhold is Professor of Medical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases and a member of the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Aachen,
Germany. Prof. Kaufhold has spent more than 18 years in senior management positions in the biotech and pharmaceutical industry, mainly in leadership roles in research, product and business development, and general management. Prior to joining Basilea, Prof. Kaufhold was President & Chief Executive Officer of Affitech A/S, previously Pharmexa A/S, Denmark. His previous executive management roles included positions at Chiron, now part of the Novartis group, Berna Biotech, now a Crucell company, and GlaxoSmithKline Biologicals. |
